Itinerary

Arrival day | Reykjavík

Explore the attractions of Reykjavík city: Tjörnin Lake, Hallgrímskirkja church, Perlan (the Pearl), the old harbour area and Harpa Concert and Conference Centre. Relax in one of the many outdoor geothermal swimming pools. The Airport Direct shuttle will transfer you to your accommodation in Reykjavík from Keflavik Airport upon arrival. Optional, and not included in the price, is to pick up the rental car at the airport when you arrive.

Accommodation in Reykjavík (optional, not included in the tour price).

Day 1 | Borgarfjörður area

Head north from Reykjavík towards the Borgarfjorður district. You can choose to either drive the scenic coastal route around Hvalfjörður fjord or take the tunnel to save time. Borgarfjörður is an area steeped in history, the site of one of the most popular Icelandic Sagas, Egil's Saga. The Saga is explained in a lively way together with other aspects of Iceland's Viking past at the Settlement Centre in Borgarnes town. Explore the many attractions of the area including Hraunfossar and Barnafossar falls, the powerful Deildartunguhver hot spring and Reykholt, home to one of the most important people in Icelandic history: Snorri Sturluson.

Accommodation in the Borgarfjörður area.

Day 2 | Snæfellsnes Peninsula - south side

Snæfellsnes is EarthCheck certified for being a sustainable community and the diversity of the landscape and geology is unique. Legend says that Snæfellsjökull Glacier is one of the seven 'energy points' of the Earth and author Jules Verne also famously featured it in his novel 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth'. Glacier tours are available. As you travel along the south side of the peninsula view the church at Búðir, Arnarstapi fishing village, the pebbled beach and lava rocks at Djúpalónssandur beach and the adjacent cove at Dritvík, once one of the largest fishing centres in Iceland.

Day 4 | Reykjavík

Head back to Reykjavík and enjoy the city's cultural attractions, shops and boutiques, café and restaurant scene.

TripAdvisor reviews

Best introduction to Iceland! I booked this on a whim and it could not have been more perfect. The car was ideal for us to set our own itenary with the comfort of knowing where we were going to sleep each night. Each stay provided a great nights rest and breakfast. I highly recommend and will use them again!
