The season for salmon fishing has been excellent recently. Not only is the catch outstanding, the fish is also larger.  Angling is a sport that is getting more and more popular every year in Iceland.  It is very refreshing to enjoy the outdoors by fishing in a lake or a river.
 
Many of our farmers offer fishing in nearby lakes and rivers.  The emphasis is on trout fishing areas, but in addition there are few salmon areas.
 
The fishing areas are variable both regarding facilities and catch.  Therefore the lakes are better suited for families whereas experienced fishermen might prefer to fish in rivers.
 
Obviously people's luck fishing is variable.  Some catch a lot, others nothing.  Often this is pure chance, but of course experience and knowledge are important.  what is most important though is to enjoy the fishing and the fresh outdoor life.
