Accommodation

4x2 person, 4x3 person and 2x4 person studio apartments and 1x4 person apartment. The 2 and 3 pax apartment has single beds and the 4 pax apartment has twin beds and a double sofa bed. Each apartment has a kitchenette, private bathroom and a seating area. Each apartment has a veranda with outdoor furniture. The apartments are located in beautifully renovated cow shed and garage. The largest building has a reception and a small lounge area. All apartments have stunning views of the ocean and some also have mountain views. 

 
Service

Each studio apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette with all necessary equipments for cooking and dining (plus coffee, tea, milk and condiments). The nearest supermarkets are in Hvolsvöllur (35 km) and in Vík (40 km). A few lovely restaurants in the area, such as at Country Hotel Anna (2 km) and Hotel Skógafoss (12 km). More restaurants in Hvolsvöllur and Vík. 

 
Recreation

Good hiking trails in the region. Horse riding tours from Skálakot (3 km), snowmobiling and glacier hikes on Sólheimajökull Glacier, boat tours by Dyrhólaey. There is an interesting museum at Skógar. The nearest town in Hvolsvöllur (35 km) where you will find a swimming pool, various tour operators, Njal’s Saga Center, LAVA Center, shops, and more. 

 
Relax and enjoy the nature

Varmahlíð used to be a traditional farm up until the turn of the century. The hosts now have 25 sheep, a dog and a cat. Guests are free to walk everywhere on the farm, whith stunning natural beauty and a waterfall that pours steep cliffs right next to the farm. The hosts grown their own salad and cabbage which guests can use the harvest for cooking in the summer. Trout fishing available in Holtsós River.

 
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Þórsmörk, and the Westman Islands

The Garage is nicely located for exploring South Iceland. Seljalandsfoss Waterfall is only a short drive away and the ferry to Westman Islands can be cought at Landeyjahöfn (15 km). Þórsmörk Valley, with its colourful mountains, is only 45 km from the Garage and guided jeep tours to Þórsmörk are operated from Hvolsvöllur.

 
Skógafoss Waterfall and the black sand beach

Drive eastwards and you will have wonderful adventures at every bend. The powerful Skógafoss Waterfall is 12 km from the Garage and if you hike along the river for a while, you will see 26 smaller waterfalls on your way. Spending a day at Skógar Museum is also recommended. We also recommend a trip to Dyrhólaey and Reynisfjara black sand beach or a guided glacier hike on Sólheimajökull Glacier.
