Itinerary

Day 1 | West Iceland and Heydalur

You are picked-up in Reykjavik in the morning and then driven through the beautiful landscapes of West Iceland to the secluded and peaceful Heydalur Valley in the Westfjords. Total travel time is approx. 8 hrs including stops at several attractions en route; the Settlement Centre at Borgarnes for a peak into Iceland's Viking past and lunch, Deildartunguhver Hot Spring and Hraunfossar and Barnafossar falls, driving through historic Reykholt as well. In the evening you are served a scrumptious 3-course dinner with the family in a converted old barn at Heydalur. Afterwards, you can relax in the on-site natural hot spring pool. If the skies are clear you have the possibility of seeing the Northern Lights.

Days 2 - 4 | Westfjords Excursions

The programme for the next 3 days is flexible and depends on weather conditions each day. There are several guided tours and activities (included in the tour price):

 

  • Day trip on kayaks with a lunch pack. A look at Heydalur's private troll, Þrándur, along the way.
  • Day tour on horse back with a lunch pack
  • 2 hour kayak trip – lunch – 2 hour horseriding tour

 

Every evening you will enjoy delicious 3-course meals and a dip in the natural hot spring pool followed by a northern lights hunt in the valley - or perhaps straight from the pool!

Day 5 | Hólmavík and Reykjavík

The return transfer to Reykjavik commences after breakfast (around 10:00). Visit the Icelandic Museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft in Hólmavík en route for an insight into this fascinating part of Icelandic history and folklore. Arrival in Reykjavík around 16:00.
