Itinerary

Day1 | Arrival Day

Arrival at Akureyri, pick up your car at the airport upon arrival. Spend the day at ease, in the heart of Akureyri. In the afternoon, explore the charming town.  Akureyri is often nicknamed the “capital of the North” and is beautifully located in a fjord setting.

Accommodation in Akureyri for the next 4 nights. If you’d rather prefer to change accommodation to stay in each area explored, we can of course adjust to that upon request.  

Day 2 | Lake Mývatn Area

Start your day with a trip to the magnificent Goðafoss Waterfall, also known as the "Waterfall of the Gods." Continue to Mývatn, a stunning area known for its unique landscapes and geothermal activity. Spend the morning exploring the lake and its surroundings, including the fascinating Dimmuborgir lava fields. In the afternoon, relax in the soothing waters of the Mývatn Nature Baths, a perfect way to unwind after a day of adventure (optional, not included in package)

Day 3 | Akureyri Area

Consider starting your morning with a whale watching tour from Akureyri harbour. The waters around Akureyri are abundant with marine life, offering the chance to see humpback whales, dolphins, and more. Alternatively, you could choose a dog sledding tour near Mývatn or go horse riding. After your tour, enjoy a leisurely walk through the Akureyri Botanical Garden. In the afternoon, relax at Skógarböðin (Forest Lagoon), surrounded by birch and pine trees with enchanting views over Eyjafjörður.

Day 4 | Siglufjörður Area

Today, drive up to Siglufjörður, Iceland’s northernmost town and a historic fishing hub, epitomizing small-town charm. Nestled within the fjord, Siglufjörður boasts colourful homes and majestic views from every angle. On your way back, consider stopping by the Kaldi Beer Spa, where you can enjoy a unique combination of beer and spa relaxation by soaking in a bath full of beer. This fun and unusual activity is perfect for those seeking a new adventure or beer enthusiasts.

Day 5 | Departure

On your final day, immerse yourself in the local culture by visiting the Akureyri Christmas House, a magical place that celebrates the holiday spirit year-round. Additionally, consider dining at one of Akureyri's well-regarded restaurants or exploring the Akureyri Art Museum, which showcases contemporary Icelandic art. Before heading to the airport, take some time to shop for souvenirs in the local stores.
